Happy Endings: Tommah

THANK YOU! for helping us save Tommah!
Tommah has found his angel, and he now has a home until his dad returns from Iraq.

We were amazed at the outpouring of support and inquiries on Tommah. Thank you all for helping Tommah!

Here is a picture of Tommah and his foster mom. You can see how very loved he already is.

Original Message:

Tommah is an absolutely gorgeous 5 year old boy. His story is heartbreaking.

Tommah has lived in the same home all his life. He was loved, and treated like a member of the family.

Tommah's dad was called to Iraq. He tried for months to find someone to take Tommah, but no one would. Left with no choice, Tommah's dad had to surrender Tommah to the pound.

Their last few moments together were full of hugging, and crying. Tommah's dad told him how much he loved him, and how sorry he was that he had to leave him.

The shelter workers were so sad to see this, and they asked if we could find room in our program for Tommah. We agreed, and thanks to all who responded to our earlier plea for a foster home for Tommah, we have located a wonderful family who is going to foster Tommah starting later this month, and until they are able to foster him, Tommah is staying at a wonderful kennel called Petropolis.

Medical Update 9/12/2006

A note from our vice-president:

Tommah is heartworm positive. I spoke with the vet and Tommah appears very healthy in all aspects except for the fact no one kept him on heartworm preventative. Tommah will start treatment on Thursday. Tommah has a light case of heartworms since microfilaria was not found in his bloodstream. We are hoping to raise money to cover his treatment which is about $150.00.

The vet office and the boarding facility just love him. He is friendly, bouncy, loves to snuggle, and smile from ear to ear. We will have better pictures of him on Wednesday when our photographer in the group goes to take pictures. He is very much housetrained and will not go in his crate or dog kennel. He will only go outside. He is great off lead and does well for me on lead although he was pulling for Pam. We have fallen for this very handsome guy and I hope you do the same. He is an awesome dog and I can understand why the pound wanted to save him.
